Agender
Agender is a gender identity typically characterized by the absence of a gender or minimal experience of it. It is viewed either as a non-binary identity or a declaration of lacking any gender identity. Those identifying as agender may use terms such as:
● Genderless or devoid of gender.
● Gender neutral, implying neither man nor woman but still possessing a gender.
● Neutrois or neutrally gendered.
● Libragender, feeling mostly agender with a partial connection to another gender.
● Having an unknown or undefinable gender, not aligning with any binary or non-binary gender.
● Lacking fitting words for their gender identity.
● Indifferent or unaware of gender, both internally and externally.
● Choosing not to label their gender.
● Identifying more as an individual than with any specific gender.
Many agender individuals also associate with genderqueer, non-binary, and/or transgender identities. However, some may avoid terms like transgender, as it implies identifying with a gender other than their assigned one, which they do not. The term agender is considered by some as an oxymoron, suggesting that, being a lack of gender, it shouldn't be labeled as a gender. Others view it as a declaration of wholeness without a gender.
Agender individuals may use any pronouns, and their presentation can be masculine, feminine, both, or entirely beyond the binary. While some may experience gender dysphoria if unable to express their identity comfortably, it's not universal.
Agender individuals, like transgender and nonbinary individuals, may seek hormone therapies or surgeries. It's essential to note that agender people can have any sexual orientation and should not be confused with asexuality.
